Stafford, Texas is 24 minutes southwest of Downtown, Houston and has a population of 17,700. Stafford is known as the "city with no property taxes" since in 1995 Stafford elected to eliminate property taxes for residents and businesses alike. Additionaly, Stafford is the only Houston-area city that does not levy non-school propety taxes. Stafford has a large park which is 16-acres and includes baseball/softball fields, basketball courts, park benches, and soccer and open fields.
In 2001, Stafford established an Arts and Education Development Zone in the center of the city. Following this in 2004, The Stafford Centre was built. This is where residents enjoy entertainment events such as concerts, plays, festivals, etc.
